This project intends the study of electron-ion scattering reactions in a storage ring (Electron-Ion Scattering). Intense beams of unstable nuclei are to be bundled into a memory / cooling ring to a highly brilliant beam that will collide with an intense electron beam. The outgoing electron will then be detected by a yet to be developed electron spectrometer. Since the underlying electromagnetic Wechselwirking is well understood, so the charge distribution in nuclei, or even giant resonances and spectral functions can be studied.
