Within this project the investigation of ELectron-Ion Scattering in a storage ring is planned. Intense beams of unstable nuclei are foreseen to be focused to a highly-brilliant beam in a storage/cooling ring, and then to be collided with an intense electron beam. The outgoing electrons will then be detected by an electron spectrometer, which needs to be designed. Since the underlying electro-magnetic interaction is well-understood, in this way the distribution of charges in nuclei, as well as giant resonances and spectral functions can be investigated.
